Can anyone please help, I have a shearote Tate bc1860 in yorkshire i think in my family tree....
I would like to find a bit more about herand her family. could anyone help me please, it would be much appreciated as the name shearote was passed down the family and i would be interested to see how far back it goes.

Mary A Tate - Head - 28 - Wid. of a bricklayer's lab. - Carlton, Yorks
Jane A Tate - Dau - 6 - Scholar - Snaith
Joe Tate - Son - 3 - Scholar - Snaith
Shearot Tate - Dau - 1 - Snaith

On the 1871 census, Sherrott TATE, aged 12, b. Snaith is a pauper in Goole Union Workhouse.  With her is Charles TATE aged 10 - possibly another brother.  Joseph TATE, aged 15 is "Under Detention Industrial School's Act" on the ship "Southampton" at Albert Dock, Hull.  (I haven't been able to find Mary A or Jane.)

Although you would need Sherot's birth cert to be sure, I suspect this is her parents' marriage:

SMITH    Mary Ann        
TATE    Charles
Goole 9c 678   

A Charles TATE died just before the 1861 census:

Deaths Mar 1861   (>99%)
TATE    Charles        
Goole 9c 374

There is a likely Charles Tate b. Snaith 1831 to a single mother Ann, but as I say, you really need Sherot's birth cert to be certain this is the right family!
