i am trying to find out more about the rudd family
my gtgt grandfather george douglas married eliza rudd ( 1837)
28 may 1855 St michael at Thorn Norwich
i have a possible parents john rudd 1801 and jane carver 1797
but i am not sure .
on 1851 census
165 thorn lane ( st michael at Thorn)
john 50 turner norfolk yarmouth
jane 54 domestic servent norwich
maria 24 shoe binder norfolk
james 17 turner norfolk
eliza 13 shoe binder Norfolk
jane grand dau 2 Norfolk
just recently i have discovered george`s
brother walter married a jane elizabeth rudd ( 1847) in 1867
i am now wondering if jane and eliza are Sisters

Don't know if you have the following marriages (Norfolk Marriage Index)
Jane Calver married George Dady 30 June 1815 at St Peter per Mountergate
John Rudd married Jane Dady 10 Aug 1818 at Norwich St Helen
so Jane could have been on her second marriage
there's also
John Rudd married Harriet Brown 21 Jan 1816 Gt Yarmouth
so John also could be on his second marriage
From the info you have from the 1851, it looks as if Eliza was Janes aunt

as IGi lists them with children after 1818 in gt yarmouth

I'm a newbie to this site and have only just found this thread.
I'm researching the Freeman family, especially their time living and working in the Thorn Lane area (between 1871-1929).
John Freeman who lived at 17 Thorn Lane was married to Mary Ann Rudd! I think she was born 1st April 1839, and they got married Dec 1864 in Norwich.
They had four sons and three daughters that I know of.
I found a site today that suggested her parents were William Rudd and Martha Green...but I'll have to do abit more research.
Hope this may be of some help.
Do you know anything about Thorn Lanes history or other occupents etc??

And Jane is With Family (born before marriage somi thinkitt Must be Jane E Rudd)

It does seem quite possible that us Freemans could be linked to you. Do you have Howards as well?
I've also been on IGI site today, and I found a record for John Freeman whom married Mary Ann Rudd... his parents being William Freeman and Susan Dady. I'd not ever heard of the name Dady before then. I'ts strange how that name has appeared in this thread.
