hi i am wanting to find john ward ( parents or more about his Mother)
christened 10 May 1801 wood dalling ( he died in Norwich)
i only have his mothers name elizabeth ward
johns children seem tpo have playford as a middle name but i cant find a connection the bnearest i have got is 1851 census
on 1851 census Union Workhouse Gressenhall
there is a 70 year old elizabeth playford and 70 year robert playford old Paupers

Hi Andrea,
If you found his birth on the IGI and there is no father name, then it would suggest that he was illegitmate, Unfortunately thier site is not working properly so I cant check.
His mother may have married a Playford after his birth.

Have you checked the Wood Dalling registers? Often the originals have things not noted in indexes.
You mention Elizabeth & Robert Playford in the Workhouse, have you looked at the workhouse records? Where does it say Elizabeth and Robert were born in the 1851 census?
I have looked at the index of Norfolk marriages and I see no Elizabeth Ward to a Robert Playford beween 1801 and 1837. I did notice John Ward and Ann Jacobs getting married at Edgefield in 1825 though.

hi i am still finding more of the children and grand children with playford in their name
i even now notice johns death is listed as John Playford Ward jan/ march 1858 in Norwich
