For Mother's day, on a death cert I was given [ in response to a request for gift suggestions!] in the informant column is" X The mark of Rosanna[last few letters hard to read] DOLING, in Attendance, Nunney". The death date is 12 Feb 1858 & the deceased Elizabeth HUMPHRIES aged 67 wife of John Humphries.
I wonder if someone can check out the 1851 &/or 1861 census for Nunney[Frome area] to see who Rosanna Doling is, her age and occupation etc. It has me intrigued. Elizabeth had been Eliz HART before her unfortunate marriage to John H- I add this in case someone on list is knowledgeable about the Hart family.
Any help here will be much apprecaited. Thank you, charlotte

Tanja, thank you very much for that info. That all fits and that Ridgeway is mentioned fits also as that is where Eliz. Humphries lived. So it would seem that Roseanna was either Eliz's "daily" or went in to help when Eliz became ill. That she was a an ag lab's wife fits with making her mark etc.
That her surname was written as DOLING on the cert is probably that she just gave her name over the counter at the Reg office and couldn't check the spelling.
There is no hidden agenda in all that. Thanks again for your help. It's much appreciated. charlotte

Hi Charlotte
Since you are interested in the Lydbury family of Ridgeway, Nunney, you may be interested to know that Joseph Lydbury had a daughter, Sarah, who married a Dowling. On Joseph's death certificate, she was the informant and her name is given as Sarah Doling.
As a footnote, I know the story of John Humphries as I am in contact with a Humphries researcher in Australia, and they are connected to the Lidbury's through marriage.
