Sorry, Patrish, I dont have access to 1871.
But have looked through full death index 1873 -81 (inc)
no death for Philip Beer that looks right.
only Philip Beer's that die in that time are a 32 yr old in Bodmin in AMJ 1874 (a son?), a baby in Bristol in 1879, and a Philip Jones Beer in Gower in 1880 who was 78.
so, on that basis, if there is evidence he was alive in 1873, then he should be somewhere on the 1881 census!

Thanks Liz, I dont think Toni is looking for the death of Phillip, I was trying to ascertain where he was living in 71 to narrow down the search for the death of Eliza via the registration dist.

O.k, give me the exact details as on the 71 census (if you have them) of the people we are looking for, see if I can pick them up that way.

I know that Eliza will not be there , I asked another Rootchatter to look for me which she has very kindly done and the reason I cannot find them. They were very difficult to locate
RG10/2257/69/39 Thats why it is important when doing looks up to give the person the full reference details.
So the registration for that address is St. Columb and sub district is Newlyn, so assuming that he died there thats what we need to look for.

I have checked the complete death index's for 71 and 72 no Philip Beer.
He is not with Mary Morcomb on the 81 cant find Thomas . Although not in the area expected the best match is the one I found originally.

Giving up on Philip for a bit! Just looked through full death indexes for Eliza Beer 1862 -1871
Here is the choice: (these are all the plain Eliza's that died in those years, there are also onles with middle names and plenty of Elizabeth's):
JFM 1862 Plympton 5b 161 JAS 1862 stratton 5c 3 JFM 1863 Barnstaple 5b367 JAS 1863 Clifton 6a 131 (?not clear ref) JFM 1864 Woodbridge 4a 484 AMJ 1869 age 27 Barnstaple 5b 362 AMJ 1870 age 0 Plympton OND 1870 age 56 Bodmin 5c 66 AMJ 1871 age 7 Torrington AMJ 1871 age 34 Lambeth
So - she must be one of those!

Always Searching
|
Hi all,
Just to let you know that while Liz and Patrish were working on this I was also. It was so very late before I threw in the towel. Alas I too have nothing to report. I can find no sign of Philip in 1881 either. I went right through the Newlyn burials (just in case the burials were not registered) and Eliza nor Philip were buried there. The only thing I have to report is that I believe the School was in Newlyn not Newquay. It didn't actually have to be in Newquay to be in the directory. I doubt that the School had that name for long. There are three families of Oxnam's in Newlyn, we had a family in Martha Lane - a miner and 2 others listing as Farmers and Yeomen (even saw a mention of one as one as a Churchwarden) but no further mention of the School. Of little context as to what became of Philip...Sorry I couldn't be of more help...........Kris
