There is no marriage for those two on the Sussex Marriage Index so they must have married in another county, or after 1837.  How do you know her maiden name?
Are they the couple who also have children Richard age 1 and Sarah age 4 in 1841?
There is another older William further down the page who may well be related.  Let me know if you do not have this census information.
