Hi Lizdb I have all of the info you have given me, mainly from census, his marriage cert, and monumental inscription, I just wondered if there was anyone out there connected to this family they had 3 daughters as far as I can track down so far, namely
Louisa Maud bapt 03/11/1895 Mountnessing Evelyn born circa 1898 Rayleigh Emily born circa 1900 Upminster
I don't know the females married names unfortunately
Thank for your help Lizdb
regards
Louisa Maud

sorry if I was too enthusiastic!! I just thought that as you said born "about..." and wife "possibly...." that you hadnt found them in the indexes to confirm.
So - re Evelyn and Emily where you say 'circa' for their d-o-b's - have you found their births?

Don't worry about being to enthusiastic, every little helps as far as I am concerned, I think sometimes an extra set of eyes can find something that is staring another one in the face but misses it. I am also on the trail of George and Jane Wilkin, Jane was nee Matthams born 1863 Little Watham, she is at home with John her father on the 1881, he a widower, Jane married George Wilkin in 1885 but cannot find her on any other census YET?, isn't it frustrating ?
Take care

Evelyn looks like she was actually Eveline Annie -
Birth reg Oct/Nov/Dec 1897, Rochford district,ref 4a 578
Emily proving more of a mystery. No Emily's registered 1899-1901. Only likely candidate is Emmie Ethel, Oct/Nov/Dec 1899 Lexden reg district ref 4a 733 I guess that is her.
Need certificates to prove, of course!
But marriages will be a lot easier to find with their middle names Was going to start looking - but husband just said he needs the computer!

Apart from their first daughters baptism I got the names and approximate ages from the census, I haven't so far checked baptisms for the other 2 daughters, needs another trip to the ERO when time allows I think, I have been lucky enough to get most of the info on the families from church records, it is so rewarding actually finding them in the church records plus some incumbents add the dates of birth at baptisms Sorry, the daughter born 1900 was May born Upminster not Emily
Thank you very much for your help
Take care
Louisa Maud.

So that is
Jul/Aug/Sep 1900 May Wilkin (no middle name) Romford area, ref 4a 583
I wonder if she was actually born in May, but they left it nearly the full six weeks to register her?

I did wonder about her date of birth and perhaps she was born in May, as far as I can ascertain she was the first May in the family. I can feel a trip to ERO coming on soon I am working on this tree right now hoping to fill in some gaps, oh for more hours in the day
Thank you Lizdb

Marriages for the girls.
Looked through full marriage indexes 1915 - 1930
1)Louisa Maud. Only one possibiltiy for her, you may already have this if she is your direct ancestor: Oc/Nov/Dec 1916 married to Mr Brown,Billericaly area ref 4a 1120
2) Evelyn or Eveline Annie. No marriages for Eveline A. A few Evelyn's, but none in Essex area.
3) May. Several possibilities: J/A/S 1920 to Mr Milner in Wakefield J/A/S 1922 to Mr Humphrey in Colchester (this is Essex area, but this one was a May E, rather than a plain MAy. But she could have adopted a middle name to be like her sisters! o/N/D 1922 to Mr Claxton, Wayland area, ref 4b 663
But - I think one of the best ways to find out what happened to the three girls, and also to find if there were any more survivng childen born after 1901, is to look for wills for John and Agnes. By the mid 1900's making a will was much more common that it had been earlier, so you could well be lucky. ANd then often they list surviving children, girls with their married names! I have found wills a very useful tool on many occasion for finding descendents, plus often gives addresses for them too.
Are you in Essex? i am -guess that is why I was drawn to this thread. If not, and you want help with knowing where places are, do ask. I am no expert (not born and bred here by any means) but might be able to help.
