monumental lookup request anderson
« on: Friday 18 May 07 05:57 UTC (UK) »

Hi, i am trying to find the graves of James Anderson and his wife Elizabeth nee Ford.
i have them listed as being born in Middlestots, Edrom, Berwick in about 1773 and 1777 respectively, i am not 100% sure on this as these were handed down to me and i can't find any records of birth for these two.
i am not sure of their religion but their son George was presbyterian, so i am guessing they were as well.
What information i do know is where they were for the births of their children which i will list.

1. Isabel born 19/3/1798 Middlestotes (James's  profession is listed as a hind)
2. John born 2/8/1800 middlestotes
3. Christian b. 22/9/1802 Reedyloch
4. George b. 30/12/1805 Blackadder town christened in Dunse (duns) (James's profession is listed as a Carter)
5. Mary b. 28/10/1808 Blackadder town christened 27/11/1808 duns (profession listed as Carrier)
6. Margaret b. 24/1/1811 Blackadder town christened 24/2/1811 duns
7. Elizabeth b. 21/5/1814 Sheriffhall christened 30/6/1814 duns before the burgher congregation

I know George and Mary moved to Selkirk sometime in the 1820-30s as George married his wife Sarah Emond there on the 23 July 1830 and his sister Mary married Sarahs brother thomas in selkirk in 1834.

I am not sure if the whole family moved from Edrom to Selkirk or just George and Mary.

There are so many Andersons around these 2 areas it is hard to pinpoint.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I have had a look at the pre-1855 M.I.'s for Berwickshire, the eastern parishes. I can see no names that fit in with your family in Edrom, Chirnside, Duns or Bunkle.

Hi Excel, thanks for that.
Maybe the whole family did indeed move to Selkirk not just two of the siblings.
