To all Rootschat searchers - "Be of good heart and keep positive".  The saga of my granddad Bernard Logan in Mayo and the resultant meeting with my cousin in Oz must gives us all hope in the search for our roots and our history.   Swopping info. with my cousin (and my brother) which I had,  but did not recognise, shows the problem of operating in isolation.  Along comes another pair of eyes and VOILA -  all is revealed.  The changing of the surname from Lohan to Logan (even in the 1901 Leitrim census) was a major obstacle,  until we were able to link the "unusual" name of one of my grandad's "stillborn" children and that effectively opened the door.  We now know that Grandad's family is the one shown in the 1901 census,  we know his Father's name,  his mother's maiden name,  marriage date and even the dates of their demise.  Additionally we have the names etc of a further four siblings.  All in all a terrific result and we Logans (Lohans) are very happy bunnies.  So remember - nil desperandum!!!!
