My Families in Essex
« on: Sunday 20 May 07 12:23 UTC (UK) »

Hi mine are all relatively recent because still in early stages of tree

Phillips - Stanstead 1799-1867 and Romford 1768-1952
Amey - Stansted/Dunmow 1816-1851
Hurst - East Ham c1886 (These came from Middlesex)

Anyone who can add to them would be a friend for life

I was born in Upton Park which had by then been absorbed into London

Hello Alan,

Have you come across Aaron (born abt 1818) and Elizabeth Phillips born abt 1824 Barking and their children. They had two children born near Stanstead - Francis in Tillingham and Nelson, one born in Suffolk and two I havent traced the birth certs for but are around Hornchurch (John) and Stratford area.  I have only just found the Suffolk child by chance through Genes as the family don't visit that area in any census so there could be more out there as they did alot of travelling!

Hi Pugs,

Sorry in the early 1800's my family of Phillipsw  were still in the northern part, but as some of yours were born in the Stanstead area and never moved into the edge of London ie Barking and Stratford area until 1900's. But who knows with this hobby when we get back further their may well be a connection.

Best of luck with your research
