Here's a list of all the BASTARDS, indexed by Date. "Spurius" and "Illegitimate" mean the same thing. The term used varied with the outlook of the churchwarden, sometimes he just omitted the father's name and left readers to draw their own conclusions.

I don't know of any such site for Sheffield, But there could be if someone sat in front of a viewer for hours and hours like Mike Spencer does, my hat goes off to him and others like him who are putting stuff on the internet for us all

In Yorkshire it as called 'Walking out together'-'born out of wedlock' some times encouraged.

unless Smelly Mary (Derby's) and Sweaty Betty (Yorkie) barmaids at the local inn! then its 'Bastardry'

but if its The Lord of the manor and the 16 year old under house parlour maid. then its a 'Naughty girl' Not his Lordship.
