This is the RootsChat Lexicon of Genealogical Terms and Abbreviations

Since RootsChat started in December 2003  we now (Nov. 2007) have over 220,000 topics on a variety of subjects.

If you have a question for RootsChat, then it's more than likely that someone has an answer for you.

You can use the Search RootsChat button, at the top of every page, to find an answer,
but the the search engine is not very specific and you may have "too many" answers.  Sad

We can't show you a list of every topic, but to make things easier,
we have made a LEXICON of some of the often-asked-about words, phrases and abbreviations found in Genealogy.                                 
These may be in Census images, BMD Certificates, Parish Registers, Wills, military documents and other sources. 

The links point to RootsChat topics, where these terms are explained and discussed.
                                                                                                                 
Some of these topics supply links to other, external sites with more information.                               

So try searching the LEXICON below, to see if your question has already been answered ...

And if not, you can still try the Search RootsChat button Smiley
