War Memorials
« on: Sunday 27 May 07 07:42 BST (UK) »

Hi.

I am in the process of collating all the Gloucestershire War Memorials and once a memorial is completed I send them to this link :-  http://www.glosgen.co.uk/ .

This is where I would like some help please. It is the memorials that are out of the way, in schools, factories, colleges even the places of worship that are closed and only open on a sunday They can be in the form a plaque on a wall, in a picture frame or a full blown one.

If any person can help what is required is of course the photo of the memorial and a close up of the names, and your permission to use the photo on the link above. Your name will be mentioned  on the photo.

There is one memorial I would like some help with is at Whittington, it the memorial outside. Some person has made a plaque and has written the names of the fallen since WW"2. I did take a photo but the last line of names I  missed a retake of this memorial would be appreciated.

Has Listers at Dursley got one

Sorry for being long winded

Alf

Hi
Have you seen this site? They are looking for contributors as well.
http://www.britishwargraves.org.uk/

I wondered if you might find memorials/individual graves on there, that you don't already know about, alternatively you might find some that they don't have.

Hi

Many thanks for your e-mail. I am the Gloucestershire Co-Ordinator for that site
The title is miss leading, they only collate war graves and not memorials although a headstone is sometimes called a memorial.
