Hello
Can some one please help me to find the baptism record of Joseph Murden born about 1819 in Alconbury Weston, Huntingdon. Would this show his parents names?
On the 1851 and 1861 census he is married to Emma (White) and living with their children in St John, Huntingdon.
Many thanks.

Unfortunately Alconbury Weston baptisms have only been extracted in part onto the IGI - it's one of the weird "C" batches where only females have been listed. Nor are they on the BVRI.
The good news is that the parish register has been filmed by the LDS and they have been transcribed by Hunts FHS
So, if you're lucky someone will have the transcript and will find him for you (and yes, the entry will give names of his parents - but not the maiden name of his mother)
or you can check the microfilm at your nearest Family History Centre of the LDS - list on www.familysearch.org
or you can buy the marriage cert from which you'll at least find his father's name.
Then you can hopefully find his parents marriage on Hunts Marriage Index - just post a request. I can see a couple of possibilities but you need at least his father's name otherwise it's pure speculation
Regards
David

Thank you both for your help.
I have 2 possibles for his father, Ralph or John.
There was a Joseph Murden living with a Ralph and Elizabeth on the 1841 census, (infact he is the only Joseph I found in 1841) but on Joseph's marriage cert to Emma White, it says his father is John.
Thats why I thought if I could find a record of his baptism, it may show his father's name.
Thanks !

As relationships are not shown on 1841 you shouldn't assume that the older ones are parents, although they often are. It makes look ups easier for us too if you state what you know eg marriage cert says father is John.
So it looks as though Beckey has the right Joseph Murden's baptism
Hunts marriage index has a marriage in 1814 in Upton cum Coppingford of John Murden of Alconbury and Elizabeth Wright
(In 1815 a Ralph Murden married Elizabeth Wilds at Holywell, both otp)

Thanks David.
I am always a bit wary to put too much info as I was informed before not to write a lengthy message. Apologies for not including cert details
If I want a copy of the two possible marriages, and the baptism record, do I request and send a cheque to Hunts FHS?
Once again, thanks to you and Beckey! I am very grateful.

If Joseph had been the son of the 1826 couple he would have been illegitimate and would in all probablility have been baptised as Wolley, so I don't think that's the marriage you're looking for.
I'm not aware that Hunts FHS provides copies of PR entries. Beckey has given you all the information on the Alconbury Weston entries, taken from the transcript, and Upton parish register has not been transcribed (or at least is not available from Hunts FHS).
Alconbury Weston PR and Upton bishops transcript have been filmed by the LDS so you make copies at your nearest Family History Centre of the LDS. Alternatively you could request Huntingdon Records Office to send you copies - you might be able to do this online.

Just as a matter of interest, the couple in the 1841 census had a John age 20, bapt. 24/5/1821 and daughters Rachel & Ruth bapt. 12/11/1826, but only Rachel on the 1841 census aged 15 and still another 7..
This might help or hinder.
