Mary HUSSEY birth 1893 Tipperary? Help required

My father-in- law (George AVON 85 years) has for many years tried to find the birth place of his mother Mary AVON (Nee HUSSEY) and any other informantion available.

She died on Christmas day 1923 (Cobh, County Cork) whilst giving birth and as result George went into an orphanage. The death certificate record her as being aged 30 at the time of her death, married in Aston, England 1915. At the time of her death she had the following children Joseph Francis AVON (Born 1915 in England)), Catherine Mary (Born 1918), Norah Mary (Born 1919 and George Charles (Born 1922). Husband was Joseph AVON (Born Cobh, Ireland)

My father in law believes his mother was born in Tipperary and had a sister called Maggie (Margaret?). Nothing else is known of her.

Any assistance would be very much appreciated especially any record of births for any Mary HUSSEY's around 1893. This would be some sort of closure for George with a part of his life that has been bothering him for many, many years.

Any snippet of information would be very much cherished by George.

you could contact www.gro.ie to request a birth cert for Mary.

Her age (30) at death is a suspiciously round number so I wouldn't be too confident of the year of birth based on that.

On the plus side, Hussey is not a common name especially in Tipperary.

If you have access to an LDS family history centre you could request the microfilm of the Irish Births Register Index.

Do you already have her marriage cert - what details does it give of her father?

My grandmother was Catherine Mary Avon but we have no record of her history - sorry can't be of much help.
I have just got a copy of her birth certificate and looking into her past.
Please let me know how you have got on - would love to know more.

You may have got this already but on the LDS Family record search site  the Irish civil registrations index shows a birth for a Mary Hussey  Cashel registration district Jul Sep 1893 Vol 3 p322. You can order the certificate online at wwwgroireland.ie

annclare - thank youy for the lead. I tried searching the LDS site via the Internet but I must be doing something wrong because I couldn't bring up the reference you had. Is there a separate site for Ireland? or is there another location I need to go to search it. Thanks for the tip it looks promising.
