Phillimore Marriages - ALMER

Does anyone have Phillimore Marriages for Almer in Dorset?

For years I have been trying to extend my line but have been stuck at:

William Smith married Catherine Bowles 9 Sept 1716 in East Knoyle Wiltshire.

Catherine was born East Knoyle 1690, but I have not been able to find where William came from.

I have found (IGI) a William Smith (son of William) baptised 21 Jun 1687 in ALMER - 22 miles from East Knoyle - the year of his birth would fit with his marriage and is close to Catherine's age.

If someone could look at Almer marriages to see if there is a William Smith (the elder) marrying that might fit with the baptism of William Smith (the younger).  I know, it's a long shot but I have to try!

Is there any way you can prove a link when you get back to these early days?

There are no marriages for a William Smith anywhere in Dorset which would tie in with the baptism of your William unfortunately.

There are two Smith marriages in Almer which might fit, but they are not for a William.

Thomas Smith married Mary Locket 14 April 1679 Almer by Licence.
Richard Smith married Margaret Matthews 5 May 1668 Almer   by Licence.

Hey Alan, thanks for your help and although your search didn't throw up what I had hoped, it perhaps does tell me that this family did not originate from Dorset.
