Re Terry's:
Found this on Amazon: Redditch Remembered DVD ~ Allan Foxall
'Synopsis: Until about 1900, although Redditch was internationally renowned for needle making and the associated fishing tackle industry, it was still a small country town. Then it spawned famous companies such as Herbert Terry & Sons spring makers and the Royal Enfield Cycle and Motor Cycle Company.'

Anglepoise
Anglepoise is a truly iconic British lamp and we are so proud to have this lamp featured on our site. The story of how the lamp was created is fascinating.
Herbert Terry, the founder of Herbert Terry & Sons began a winding spring business in a terraced house in Redditch in the early 1900s which very quickly progressed to Terry acquiring its first premises. In 1932 George Carwardine, an automotive engineer by trade, began developing a light which involved the balancing of an incandescent light bulb in three planes of movement.

'Herbert Terry the founder of the spring business started winding springs at home, a terraced house in Peakman Street, Redditch, later moving to a workshop 400 yards away. His son Charles introduced hose clips and the Terry bicycle saddle and it was he who signed the contract with George Carwardine, who originated from Bath.'

'If you are unable to purchase a hand brake you may easily make one as shown in the sketches. Bowden cables are used for the foot brake, the accelerator, and clutch. The gear change, of course, must be a rod, and a guide plate should be attached to the side member as shown in one of the sketches. The. rear suspension springs may conveniently consist of very strong motor-cycle front-fork springs, although Messrs. Herbert Terry & Sons, of Redditch, are supplying special springs for the job. '

'Established in 1855, Herbert Terry & Sons had a long record of industrial achievement in the field of springs and industrial fasteners, where the Terry name became known and respected on a worldwide basis. Today, Terry operates from a modern industrial base in Redditch offering a comprehensive range of products for use in industry, hardware, sanitary, automotive, marine and domestic environments. Terry, since October 1999, is part of the Swedish ABA group of companies an internationally leading firm in the fields of hose and pipe clamps and connectors. '

Hi Gig,
Check out Redditch library, on the Green by St. Stephen's Church. Plenty of local history books, including some of postcards/photographs.
Whilst you're there ask to the "Redditch and District Needle Maker's Almanac", sort of directory. I think from about 1886 to 1936.
Get a Street Map of Redditch, before you go. Place is covered in roundabouts, very easy to come out in the wrong place. If they were involved in needles at all, visit The Forge Mill Museum.
Good luck
Mike
