Burnley Help please to locate records.

Hi
Ive just found out a distant relative was a police constable at Cliviger nr Burnley from the 91 and 01 census.
Can anyone tell me what resources would be available to find out more such as service record and maybe photos?

His name was WILLIAM KITCHEN.

Dear Ady

Lancashire Records Office holds records for Lancashire policeman. I did a quick search for William Kitchen and they do hold records for the period 1887 - 1899 ref: PLBU 25/24.

If you access the Lancashire Records office site and search police records you get an enquiry form to fill in - website address is www.lancashire.gov.uk/education/record_office/records
