I forgot I had two different versions of the site on the go because I lost one for a while. So when I came back to it I created a lovely page with lots of lovely pictures and a historical time line on it.  Unfortunately I put it in the wrong version.

The easiest way around this would be to "publish" the nod file to your hard drive ie do a local publish and then from the other site select "import" and then select html page and the correct page and this should import that page into your site without retyping everything

Hi Falkyrn..

Thanks for that suggestion.   I'll try that on "messed up website 1" when I've found a way out of the current mess I've dug myself into on "messed up website 2" Grin

Hi Gadget - I've just had a couple of very senior moments.....

First was the one we were discussing last week when I added a page to a duplicate of my family tree website but not the latest version so now have to transfer all the info over to the current site!  That one was down to me not looking at it for ages and then forgetting where I had saved it all Roll Eyes

And today's disaster is on another site I am doing...and was down to me experimenting with a page layout ...  and then saving the new one with no banner rather than reverting to the old one WITH the banner.

You only need to write me a very short list of do's and don'ts....

1) Do...Pay attention to what you are doing!

Hi all...Happy New Year Grin

Does anyone use google analytics to track website hits?  I've just been looking at it and there is a code to paste in but I can't understand where I am supposed to paste it!!

Thanks

Hi Milly

I am doing this from memory because of course the server is still down and I can't get to my website but you need to view HTML and put it in the header.  In fact I will open my website in NOF and see exactly where I put it.

Right found it.

Mine is at the bottom of the page before the last </body>hypertext.  You should be able to just copy and paste it directly before that bit of text.

Google analytics is quite a good system, is free and we've just started using it at work, I bullied my Manager!

Firstly I think you need to put it on any pages you want to specifically track, I just put it on the home page.

There are three tabs Page Design, HTML Source and Page Preview

Pick HTML Source and scroll to the bottom till you find the last Body tag.

Thanks....I think I have done it.  It put it on all the pages automatically and seems to have stuck - so we'll see what happens.

Now I can watch all those hundreds of hits coming in from all around the world Grin Grin Grin Grin

Milly

It must be nice to have a website to get hits on!

I have actually just signed up to a Tribal pages site, I'll have to get that going.
