Hi Dinie
I thinnk if the HTML code is greyed out that means you can't change it. ?? I can happily add bits of HTML but I've not had a great deal of luck with trying to take any out. gadget would probably say I need to go and read the manual

If you are in page view and you click on HTML box in the layout properties, you should find the dialogue box for HTML has a number of tabs (between the grey and white bits). click each tab until you find the offending code?

I though I had cracked it with my maps, however works perfectly in Firefox but not in IE or Opera.
In Opera the maps show minus the markers. In IE the markers show minus the map.
time for plan B!

I looked at your Middlesex page, and it looked the same in both IE7 Firefox, and Opera.
I couldn't get the Google maps to move or zoom in/out (should they)?
BTW I used to live at the other end of Globe Road (Bethnal Green end) to James Buxton - 170 years difference though, so don't expect I passsed him by up the Roman Road market!

Plan B!! screenshots but shhhh don't tell anyone.
I am really coming to appreciate how small London is, if you get what I mean, when I started plotting these places they were so close together especially James Turner who never lived more than a couple of miles from where he was born.

My Mum made me pretty frocks

Hi dinie
I've had a brief look only and will look again later
I like the new layout a lot and particularly like the photo page. One thing that I would have liked to have seen was more graphics and less text on the home page. It's just a little thing and could be just my preference for limited info on the first page to draw the punters in.
Otherwise, well done

It doesn't need much at all. Maybe split it into two pages with the first part of the text and some images as Home - more like your picture pages. I'll have another look between the innings

Hi again
I'm just wondering if you might move the block of text beginning "Trying to find some of my ancestors" and ending "Without their help, this site may never have been born." to a separate page on your approach to FH. This would then mean that you could introduce some small thumbnails to the index page and, maybe, expand on your methodology.
Just a thought...

Dinie
Good stuff - but I agree with gadget that you might want to jazz-up your home page - because it is the plainest page of the site!
You might want to try thumbnails of the different sections of your site to explain/illustrate the good stuff inside.
The kind of thing I had in mind can be seen on the "holding page" I have on my ISP website where I've used thumbnails of webpages:
http://www.juliancbaker.plus.com/
Or you can use artefacts and/or pictures like Gadget and Kerry have.
I used IrfanView to get screenshots of my pages.
Good Luck

Looking good dinie, I really like the layout and your colour scheme, very tasteful and fashionable this season!
I do agree with Gadget and Julian on the home page though, I sometimes think there's too much text on my home page, it really needs to be more like Julian's holding page - lots of enticing graphics and pictures.
Your photo pages are great, somehow mine look a bit messy and need a bit more attention but your are really neat and some lovely photos.
Keep up the good work
