What new look? I've widen the page but I haven't changed the look yet since the last change. Or are you in a parallel universe after I've changed it.
Oh no that was Doctor Who

It looked different Kerry but I've looked at more websites than I've had hot dinners - maybe I was thinking about the last one

Arr yes, I ditched the cherubs, just before the server went down, perhaps that was the reason
I went for something a bit more sophisticated and simple.

first of all.... a marvellous site. good work a small thing ... and note, this is my preference and not a criticism. i hate white pages. i made all of mine an off yellow( if there is such a colour) i think it helps accentuate the writing. steve

Hi Stephen
It might have been your browser.
As a point of info, I don't think any of us use white as the background colour. We are all conscious of problems with eyestrain, etc. and have discussed WWW3 standards (I think it's www3) on many occasions.
Regards

Hi Stephen
Are you talking about the rootschat website itself?
As Gadget says we are all aware of eye strain etc and I never use white as a background, in fact even in MS Word I use a muted green as sitting staring at a white screen all day gives me headache, its too bright.

Hi Stephen
Dinie's isn't white on my screen either?? It's cream. Perhaps it depends on the monitor settings or calibration or something.

Hi Noffers
I'm designing a website where I would like to use different background colours on different pages. Using NOF styles (CSS), I can't seem to change the look of just one page without changing all the others. ....................so:
would I need to revert to a non-CSS design
or
do a background fill by superimposing a colour on a 'table'
or
any other ideas, please?
Thanks

I'm not using NOF but the basic idea is the same everywhere.
Use a set of CSS files, with common stuff in one and then the specialised stuff in a second file. If you have (just an example) 20 pages in one style, but then need three pages in a different style, then use the special CSS file there
i.e. <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="./mm-scr.css" media="screen" /> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="./mm-prn.css" media="print" /> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="./mm-trees.css" media="all" /> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="./mm-navi.css" media="screen" /> and then <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="./mm-specials-all.css" media="screen" /> on most pages, but <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="./mm-specials-p05.css" media="screen" /> or <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="./mm-specials-p19.css" media="screen" />
etc, etc, on the relevant pages.
Hope that's clear, but I have no idea how to do that in NOF Bob
