I have a copy of my great grandfathers (James Massey born 1831) wedding cert, this shows that his father was Benjamin Massey a blacksmith, the only Benjamin Massey I can find for this area was born at Neenton in 1817 this would make him only 14 when James was born. To add to the puzzle one of the witnesses was Richard Wall and on the 1871 census I find that Richard Wall was Benjamin 1817 next door neighbour, has anyone any ideas?
According to the BVRI Benjamin Massey was Christened 25 December 1816 in Neenton. Parents Joseph Massey and Ann. No birthdate given so it is possible that he could have been born a while before Just a thought.
Hi Frances, many thanks for your reply, I feel an idiot now, because when I came to look at the wedding cert again it was the brides father that was a blacksmith, the grooms was a farmer, so I have know been able to find my Benjiman Massey, have yet to find the link between Richard Wall and the above, but will keep looking, thanks again, Ann.
