I am trying to find Alexander Dawson and his family.
He married Helen Bell 07 December 1829 in Leslie Fife.
Their children that I know of were:
Robert born Leslie Fife 17 July 1830 Alexander born Leslie Fife 13 September 1832 Grizel (Grace) born Alva 23 October 1834 Margaret born Alva 01 May 1837 Isabella born Alva 03 September 1839 Andrew born ?? ?? ??
In 1857 Alexander, his wife Helen and their children Alexander, Isabella and Andrew all came out to Tasmania on the ship the "Broomielaw'.
If anyone could help locate this Dawson, on the 1841 and the 1851 census it would be wonderful.
I have the 1851 Alva census index Alexander Dawson 42 b.Alva Helen Dawson 45 b.Alva Alexander Dawson 18 b.Leslie Grace Dawson 16 b.Alva Isabella Dawson 11 b.Alva Andrew Dawson 8 b.Alva
No trace of Robert or Margaret Dawson
Ancestry.co.uk have the family under "Dunson" for 1841 in Alva Alexander b.1811 Alexander b.1836 Helen b.1811 Grace b.1836 Isabella b.1830
Hopefully someone else will be able to give you more information regarding their exact addresses and occupations Best Wishes Elisabeth
In the 1851 both Alexanders were Woolen Hand loom weavers. Grace was a wool winder and Isabella and Andrew were scholars. They were living at Mid Row, Alva.
Hope this helps
