There is this birth, although its a long way from Portsea, its possible as Portsea was a naval area.

Hi Patrish, Thank you for your help. I am a bit confused though as I thought St Mary Bourne was near Andover and your ref. says St Mary's Portsea. I hope they are mine I love their old names - Cornelius - Barnabus! Regards, Abiam

Hi Abiam,
Its quite possible that these are not yours but this is what is showing on the IGI, any clues with the names, re children or any naval/military connections
You would need to find a child of his to get the fathers name to be absolutely sure or check the parish records for St. Marys Bourne.

Hi Abiam,
Not having any success with trying to find baptism in St Mary Bourne. There is a marriage in St Mary Bourne of Earle Vincent and Sukey Longman, 30 April 1781. This looks like it may have been a second marriage.
This gent seems to have died in Whitchurch in 1798 aged 56. His wife died in 1830 in Whitchurch in 1830, aged 76. Earle was a yeoman at one point but may also have been a brewer. Any of these occupations sound familiar? He may have been related to a Joseph Vincent and the Earle may have been his mother's maiden name.
All pure speculation, of course from snippets found in stuff that I can access.

Hi,
Nell, I think Earle is a possibility but Thomas would have been a very late child if they married in 1781. As you said it could have been a second marriage or there may have been children born earlier. The brewing bit is interesting as his son Thomas became a beer retailer around 1861 and ended his days in The Grenville Arms Burnham. Following in father's footsteps? As I don't have a birth date for Thomas it could fit! Earle dying in 1798 just as Thomas was born 1879/80. Who knows?
I reckon Thomas Vincent died aged 80 in 1881, registered in Eton (he was living in Burnham) Thanks Dave for that.
I shall start trying to find Sukey Longman, Regards, Abiam

Hi everyone,
Firstly thank you to all who tried to find Thomas Vincent born c 1800 for me. Lots of leads but nothing would fit so eventually I had to enlist the Hampshire Record Office to help.
I would recommend their very fast and efficient service and they found him! The problem as is so often the case - his surname. He appears to be the first member of the family to become Vincent from Vince. For 12 pounds they found Thomas, his brother, mother and father, their marriage and also their parents. They also sent photocopies of the relevant pages - how they manage to decipher the early entries is beyond me!
So, if anyone is stuck and cannot do more I would suggest they try them. I know most of us cannot afford this line of enquiry too often (I certainly can't) but when the brick wall shows no sign of falling down this could be the answer,
Good luck everyone, Regards Abiam
