I am searching the paternal line of Vaulters who lived in Stoke pero,then in Wootton Courtney. Also known under Velter/Vatter/Vsater/Vaulton and even Samter. I have traced the line back through William Vaulter b.1880/1 in Wootton Courtney, To James Vaulter b.1850/1 in Stoke Pero. To Margret of Luccombe b.1813/5 (who married William Valter/Vaulter, b.1801 but baptised 1806) in Stoke Pero .  His father was George Valter. MY THANKS TO INMAN FOR FINDING GEORGE[/color]
 I assume George married Elizabeth in Stoke Pero bacause of the baptism record for William, dated 26/2/1806.  I cannot find any further ref. to George and  I believe he came from another area poss. Devon. Assuming Elizabeth came from Stoke. the only poss. ref. is to an Elizabeth Tayler baptised20/7/1773. THANKS TO "INMAN "   ELIZABETHS MAIDEN NAME WAS PRICHARD NOT TAYLER[/color].
 I would like to continue researching this line of Valters as they are my direct ancestors but I do not know what to do next (being a greenhorn at this) Can anyone help me search out the records.         Many Thanks          Mon1 Wink     COMPLETED Grin

Hi, I am also trying to trace the name Vaulter and have got well and truly stuck with George b. c.1775, I have noticed that you have Margaret (mother of James b.1850-51) married to William, I have the marriage certificate of James which states his fathers name as John and have found a marriage record of John and Margaret Bond at Luccombe in 1839, but I cannot find a birth record for James or a death record for John which I believe must be around the same time as James is 2 months old on the 1851 census but there is no record of John!

If you are interested I have traced Margarets ancestry back to about 1700 and would be happy to share the information - let me know.  By the way George married Elizabeth Clatworthy in 1804, her mother was a Pritchard.
