hi, can anyone help me, trying to trace my grandfather william stuart mckinnon dob 13/08/1898 falkirk.
been in touch with scottish bdm not registard in that name possible illegitamate? .
any idea where i can look now.

Hi,
Had some spare credits so had a look.
The William born 1889 is not yours, his father was Neil but the 1901 looks more promising
William Stewart McKinnon, brn 5th April 1901, Shore Road, Stevenson.
Father William McKinnon , Iron moulder. Mother Margaret Ann McKinnon MS Dunbar
There was also a twin brother on the same page called Daniel Dunbar McKinnon.
I guess he could have lied about his age to get into the Navy but the birth date does not match what you have for William

This is the above William and Margaret in 1901. The census was taken on the 30th March, just before the children were born.

thank you to everyone who tried helping me with my search, i have now manage to trace my grandfather,with some suprising results he was born in larbert scotland on 13/08/1898 his birth name was william mckinnon COLVIN.
i have now traced the family i didnt know.
