I have the following place recorded as pob in Cumberland on numerous census recs.

Langwalkby
Barron Wood
Barn Wood

Does anyone know where they are Huh

There seems to be a connection with Newbiggin.

I believe there are lots of Newbiggins.

that looks like the one. Grin Was it in Cumberland?

also on the same record is pob "Stainforth" which becomes "Dents Head"  in the following Census Huh

next to Stainforth there's a "Borrins Wood"  could this be Baron Wood or Barnwood? Huh

Following the railway northwards from Stainforth (about 6 miles along), there is Dent Head Farm.

I can only find it as Borrins Wood on old maps - but this doesn't mean it was the wrong place.

For old maps, see www.old-maps.co.uk  (Stainforth is in Yorks, but it may not always have been so.)

Culgat could be Culgaith which is near Langwathby and a Newbiggin.
