Hello Lynette,
There are three items you require when searching for Irish ancestors.
1. Denomination. 2. Parish 3. Townland.
You'll have to rely on Church records as civil registration in Ireland was not introduced until 1864. Non Catholic marriages were registered from 1845 onwards. When registration for BDMS started in 1864 some people didn't bother with the registration for a few years after that date. Keep your fingers crossed that church records still exist.

Hi Christopher, from his death I know is Martin O'FARRELL was born ca 1815 in Queens County Ireland his Wife Mary Ann Butler ca 1814 was born Kilkenny Ireland [told it was called Grace's country] I have for one of their sons Thomas William O'Farrell 1846 Leix Queens County Ireland. The Australian records back then were happy with county and Country even shipping records don't help and death records you were lucky it birth place was on. OFARRELL, Martin CD 677906 Death Father: John Mother: Butler Catherine Age at Death: 63 Birthplace: Quee Reg Year: 1878 Reg State: Victoria so from that I know his father was John O'Farrell and mother Catherine Butler and because he was born in Ireland I suppose that were his parents were born. and to take a stab may be Queens Country. The same with my Linton's Walsh Linton born 1818 country of Armagh Ireland but someone sent me a long time ago that it was Belfast ORANGE FREE STATE Ireland. I know from letters when his brother was married his wifes family sent a letter back to Ireland saying she married a man from Armagh so I supposed John was born in Armagh and thought the rest of the family was also . His sisterMary Jane Johnstone nee Linton left Tasmania went back to Tullycalliday Co Armagh Ireland were another brother William lived in Killylea Tullycalliday Armagh Ireland and died there in 1884 had neice Elizabeth Berry living in Balleagh County Armagh 1884 think another niece or cousin Mary Jane Steanhans living Chicago U.S.A 1884 They all got something from Mary Jane Johnstone's Will. it's hard when you havent got much info the Will has just come to light.
