I'm doing a bit of research for my MiL and I've got stuck. Her great great grandmother Margaret was born in Reeth in 1797c and married a William Collier. Their son William was born in Hipswell and xtened 11.02 1827, there also appears to be 2 girls Mary and Elizabeth xtened 1824 and '32 respectively. My problem is I can't find a marriage in the IGI for William and Margaret, there's only an Anthony Collier m1788 in Hipswell and no weddings of any desription for Reeth. Were weddings for Reeth held in another parish? Help Thank you.

Hi angelfish,
Here is one possiblity:
Marriage, 14th May 1823 William Collier Margaret Hilburn Downholme
According to Genuki Reeth is 4.7 miles from Downholme, Hipswell is also less than 3 miles Downholme.
See what you think .. ..
Kind regards,
Pels

1841 census: HO107/1248/5, folio 4, page 2
Yorkshire Burneston Carthorpe
Margaret Collier, 45, Ag. Lab Mary, 15 Mary Kilburn, 12
The names Kilburn and Hilburn both look very similar when they are written down angelfish .. ..
Regards,
Pels

Margaret appears to be living with her son William in 1871, do you have the census information for this angelfish?
Kind regards,
Pels

That's very true, my first job as a filing clerk is coming in very handy for this, all those years deciphering signatures Thank you for all your help, I'll try Kilburn as not much luck with Hilburn. I don't really have a "feel" for these people as they're not my rellies iyswim.
Yes, thank you I have 1871. Poor William must've died quite young.
