This is REALLY clutching at straws but if anyone should have a bit of spare time during a visit to HALS I would like to know if the Layston Memorial Inscriptions includes a MI for Bernard Turner (died/bur 26.08.1696) and/or his wife Mary Turner (died/bur 09.05.1687)
The MI's at HALS were recorded in the late 1800's (another copy taken in 1910) so I have my fingers crossed even though a few hundred years+ is a bit much to expect a headstone to have survived!!
Bernard Turned owned the advowson for the church at Gt Hormead at that time so I don't know why he'd be buried at Layston but the PR's say he's there . Hopefully he may even have had a MI inside the church and maybe it survived longer than the usual headstone (I live in hope )
Many thanks
