Farringdon/Highworth PRs
« on: Thursday 07 June 07 18:34 UTC (UK) »

I should be very grateful for assistance in unravelling an ancestral research puzzle.

Several records + IGI show a Richard Whiteway b 1789 married a Sarah Pontor on 20/11/1809.
There were certainly 3 children [IGI] born to a R+S; these were Sarah 3/1816,Richard 2/1822 and Annabella 2/1825. I have also found a Mary b 1825 at a Pontor house in 1841.
The BDM listed are for Highworth in the IGI.

Move forward to 1841 however and the position is less clear. Sarah snr is missing presumed dead; a R Whitenack [notated as an error] b 1801 is apparently staying with his  daughter Sarah [now Walker] b 1816. He is shown b Berks.
The family seem to be missing thereafter.

However, also in Farringdon b variously in 1791,93 and 94 in Berks is another Richard; he is married to a Martha ? from Cirencester Glos and 5 children b 1829-40.
None of these events are in the IGI.

I would like to resolve the various anomalies so that I can continue my search on the right person
Thank you
