Anyone know where the records of the hospital patients would be stored? In particular a record of deaths of around 1910? Where would the deceased have been buried?
Napsbury hospital had its own church, so patients may have been buried there. Napsbury was built specifically for Middlesex residents, and I believe that it was administered by the London County Council, so surviving records may well be housed at the London Metropolitan Archives.
Napsbury Hospital has been closed down for a few years and the area has had a housing estate built on it. From what I have been told when people died if the families wanted them cremated they might have been held at West Herts Crematorium in Garston, Watford. When I go back to work next week I can ask a couple of the nurses as they had worked at Napsbury before it closed down if they know about burials in the grounds.
