I have just been reading in the Times an account of the trial for the accused of the murder of Phoebe Hogg ( who's father lived in Chorleywood ) & her baby daughter Phoebe, in Hampstead 1890.

Phoebe Styles married Frank Samuel Hogg in Dec qtr 1888 Pancras & it is her husbands "girlfriend" who is the accused.

Hope this may be of interest to any one researching the Styles family from Chorleywood.

The woman who murdered Pheobe (Mary Eleanor PEARCEY (WHEELER) also had a Hertfordshire connection as her father was executed at St Albans Prison also for murder.

Many thanks for the link Rick, I hadn't seen the whole circumstances & it makes fascinating reading.

Having had grt grandparents in Chorleywood at the time of the murder it makes me wonder if they knew poor Phoebe's family. !!
