On the 1851 Census for my g.g. grandfather George Bennett it states he was born in Woodhouse, Leicestershire, he was 26 years of age. I have searched the 1841 and he is not there, when I Googled the above address it states not known, can anyone please advise if there is such a place, also searched Origins- no luck. Michelin maps do not show anything either.
Many thanks,
Pam....Sydney

Hello Caz,
Thank you for the further information, I am pretty sure this is part of my family, the only problem they all had the same names, it is a matter of sorting through all of them, I do have Ancestry.com at the moment and find it very helpful, and also the wonderful people at Rootschat. The weather at the moment is ideal to get going very windy lots of rain, very much indoors for Genealogy.
Thank you Caz, Pam

Hello
There certainly is a Woodhouse in Leicestershire. There are in fact two adjacent villages - the ancient village of Woodhouse and the more modern growth of Woodhouse Eaves.
Woodhouse is approx 3 miles S of Loughborough.
If you ever get stuck again I commend multimap.com; all you do is type in Woodhouse (or wherever you are interested in) and up comes a map in seconds, all free!
My forebears come from Woodhouse and my gt gt gt gt gt gt grandparents' gravestone from the 1840s is crystal clear in Woodhouse churchyard.
Happy hunting
