Would love to find Sarah Waters birth date & also her mothers Maria Waters. Was that Maria Waters married or single name? Maria would have been born late 1700's.
Sarah was a prostitute, single, protestant, & was convicted at the Middlesex Goal 29 May 1828 to 7yrs transportation for larceny to VDL on the Maria in 1829 then aged 18yrs. Her trade is listed as servant of all work -plain cook & she could read & write. Her mother Maria Waters apparently lived Park Place, St. James Street, where???
Thank you, Tiffaney

Looks like park Place Place, St James St is still there - near St James Park, a stone's throw from Buckingham Palace.

Just a guess Tiffaney, but I would think it would be a very posh area (it sure is these days!), but don't know if that would also have been the case in the 1700's. Perhaps Maria was in service in a "big house"?
You might find this interesting. I think the Park Place you're after is the one in Westminster: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/hitch/gendocs/lon-str.html
This also looks interesting (a long article but worth reading - there is mention of Park Place just over a third of the way down): http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.asp?compid=45189
I hope someone can help you track Maria and Sarah down.

Hi Ruskie,
Thank you for giving me those great web sites. Extremely interesting. Have printed it out as the detail is excellent. Love learning everything I can about where my ancestors lived in those early days. Appreciate your good wishes in my search. regards, Tiff
