Topic: Alice A. Gibbs. Kent census look up please (Read 433 times)

Hello  ,
I have a photograph from my gt, grandmothers album of a young girl called Alice a. Gibbs. All of the photos from the album are of ancestors from the Plumstead or Woolwich area. I would guess this photo was taken anytime from 1910 to 1918? I am no expert on this though. I think she could be aged anything between 17-20? I know she is a relative, yet I have no Gibbs in my tree, so this is probably her married name. I have an Alice M.M. but no Alice A. Could someone try and locate her on a census for me please, or have you any other ideas?

In the 1901 census there is an Alice A Gibbs aged 11 born Ash, living at 8 Chillow Terrace, Ramsgate
parents Thomas & Emily.

Not sure where to start given that you think that Gibbs is not her maiden name ?

Hi Bearat,
Thank you for your replies. I am pretty sure it is not the Alice A. Gibbs from Ash, Kent aged 11 as I don't recognise any of her family. Do you know what parts of Kent all those other Alice A's come from? Did any come from Woolwich? I don't think it is the ones that come from Plumstead, because I don't recognise their surnames. The surnames I have in my family from the Lewisham area are Rhodes, Knight and Creed.
What a puzzler

That is a possibility. I think I will have to do a bit more research as there is not much to go on and I don't want to drive you all nuts looking! It's funny isn't it how most of us have photos with no names on and will probably never know who the person is, while I actually have one with a name on and still don't know!
