Elizabeth Middleton B.19/04/1870 Scunthorpe
« on: Tuesday 07 December 04 18:06 GMT (UK) »

Could anyone tell me the best way to find out the parents of Elizabeth Middleton, born 19/04/1870 in Frodingham, Scunthorpe. Do I have to buy the birth certificate or are their details listed in a parish register somewhere? If so, could someone be kind enough to look up the record for me?

Thankyou

Hi Catherine

In these circumstances, I usually end up buying the certificate. I know it's £7 but that's not too bad if you don't have to do it too often Roll Eyes

Someone may well have access to the parish registers BUT it's usually a journey to the regional record office to find them and to buy them (if that's possible for Scunthorpe) tends to cost loads more Sad

I'd really recommend getting the certificate unless it's way off your main line of enquiry.

Don't know how other people feel but that's my view!

Thanks Angela,

Think I'll probably buy the certificate. Just want to clear up the mystery of who she is (possibly illegitimate daughter of my ggg grandma before she married my ggg grandad, so dont know whether he's the father or someone else - probably be no father listed knowing my luck!)
