Hi Trystan - ever wish you'd never started something?

Why dip your toes in when you can just LEAP blindly in and mess up?    I appear to have done something rather...errr.....wrong to my new web space flewers.rootschat.net  Undecided   

I've created a test page using frontpage and called it index.html (as per my own home pages which I've been tinkering around with for a while) 

I followed the link in the email to the account manager and uploaded it via that.  At this point I noticed that there was already an Index.html file in the directory.  Well, Lets get rid of THAT I thought! 
So I deleted it!  (well, you would, wouldn't you?!) Ok, so you wouldn't.....
Now my space doesnt appear to be there any longer   Cry 

Help!  Please?

No don't worry - your space is still there - that annoying "holding page" has gone - so you're one step closer to a working website - you're onthe right track! Smiley

Hi Trystan

Sorry to be a bother again! Everyone else seems to be bombing along getting their pages up and running but I'm still not having any luck "seeing" my Flewers.rootschat.com homepage. 

I had assumed that removing the standard holding page (index.html) and replacing it with my own index.html or index.htm page would result in my own page being visible but instead, all I get when I point my browser towards flewers.rootschat.com is a standard page not found message.   

Huh Any ideas what I've done wrong?

(The webspace address is .net by- I keep on putting .com at the end of things too out of habit Smiley )

I've had a peek, and the good news is that your page is up there:

http://flewers.rootschat.net/Index.html

but as you say when you go to:

http://flewers.rootschat.net/

You get an error. The problem is that Index.html should have a small "i" in "index" - that's all. If you just rename the file then you'll see it. Smiley  You wouldn't believe how may times I've been flumoxed by similar things myself too.   Tongue

Dagnabit!

It's always something simple and silly that causes the most grief!  Thank you so much Trystan for pointing me in the right direction!  It's been rather a long time since I did any html work on my own home page and I just couldn't see the wood for the trees on this one!

Now I've got a quick test page up and running I'll get myself sorted and make "real" use of the freespace!
