Hi Jill
just in case you decide the Snowsill/Snowshel etc., family of North Leigh are who you are looking for, here is the next generation back (was hoping there would be an Elizabeth amongst them....but no such luck )
Baptisms North Leigh
17 Mar 1722 SNOWSELL Thomas s Richd 9 Aug 1724 SNOWSILL William s. Richd & Mary 13 Feb 1725 SNOWSELL Richard s. Richd 27 Aug 1727 SNOSSELL Mary d. Richard & Mary 5 Jan 1728 SNOWSHILL Rebeckah d. Richard & Mary 12 Jul 1739 SNOSILL JONATHAN s. Richd 8 Jun 1842 SNOSILL Ann d. Richard
Afraid I couldn't see a marriage for Richard & Mary in North Leigh
now the sad bit
Burials North Leigh
23 Feb 1729 __OWIL Richard 22 Nov 1730 SNOSILL 8 Jan 1734 SNOSILL child of Richd 3 May 1737 SNOSILL (blank) s. of Richard 23 Dec 1737 SNOSILL Rose d. of Richard 29 Jan 1742 SNOSILL Ann d. of Richd
20 Jan 1733 __O_ILL Robert
31 May 1762 ___SILL Ruth wife of Joseph
no sign of burials for Richard & Mary (my copy of the transcriptions is a bit faint in places but am pretty sure they weren't there)
Earliest entry in North Leigh is the 1722 bapt. of Thomas

Sorry everyone, I really have to throw a spanner in the works here - Lydia Snowsell, born 1795 in Combe, never married. She was a servant in London and died there in 1861. Her parents were Job and Elizabeth - Job being the son of Jonathan and Lydia nee Burborough.
What I am missing is Job's wife Elizabeth's maiden name!!

Okay Jill - I've got my Lydias mixed up, been doing this family history research for too long I think! Anyway, she has to be Lydia Snowhouse who married James Tagg as suggested - which I will add to my notes as I missed that!
Regards, Jill

Hi Jill (S.) ...
Had a look at the OFHS's Oxfordshire Marriage Index (1538-1837) for Job and Elizabeth's marriage, but no luck. Checked all surnames beginning "SNO" but no Job recorded.

Hi Pennie, thank you very much for that - in fact, I visited the Oxford Record Office earlier in the year, a really good and pleasant place to research, and thought maybe I missed Job's Elizabeth's maiden name as there is such a lot to look at in a day.
Out of interest I have looked at Lydia "Snowhouse's" marriage to James Tagg on LDS and one of their sons was called Jonathan so I guess she has to be Jonathan and Lydia's daughter Lydia Snowsell. They ended up in Bisham in Berkshire.
Many thanks again - regards, Jill
