Berkhamsted Look-up please

Trying to locate great-grandfather born around 1873 in Bucks. Dad tells me it was Berkhamsted.

His name was William Thomas Nichols. He was married on 17.05.1891 at St Luke's, Victoria Docks, to Mary-Ann Byrne of Stepney.

He was 18 years at marriage, address given 13 Emsworth Street.  The only Emsworth Street I can find in London is in Streatham, unless there is one in Bucks, but no county followed street so presumed it was London.

After marriage went to live at 6 Burke Street, Canning Town - I have found this.

Occupation at time of marriage - Waterman.

Father's name William Nichols deceased.
Witness were John Smith and Sarah Byrne.

Have found one entry for a William Nichols in Berkhamsted for 1873 but his father's name is John Nichols!

Can anyone help please.

Are you aware that berkhamstead is in Hertfordshire, not buckinghamshire although the county line does wiggle in and out quite a bit and boundery lines have been changed. Berko has always been Herts so you migh get a better response from that board
