Anyone have the Oxfordshire marriage index please?
« on: Monday 11 June 07 10:56 BST (UK) »

Hello

Wondering if someone could look up the following marriages for me to help me find out some more details please.

They are Thomas Stevens & Elizabeth (or Eliza) unknown married around 1788-1793 I think.

John Stevens & Sussanah Butler, I am not sure when they would have got married but they are the supposed parents of Thomas. Think they would have got married sometime after 1744.

Thanks in advance. Regards Gary

Hi Gary ...

This is the only marriage I found on the OMI for the dates you mentioned:

18 JUL 1793 - Thomas STEVENS to Elizabeth EASON at OX St. Martin

Couldn't find any marriage for John and Susannah (checking both bride and groom indexes).

Thank you for looking Pennie, much appreciated. The one you have found looks like it could well be them. Sorry to be a bit ignorant but does that mean they were married in Oxford at St Martin.

Thanks Gary

Yes, a marriage in Oxford - not at all uncommon for couples to "decamp" to the city for their nuptuals!

The St. Martin PRs may (if you're very lucky!) give further information re. home parishes.
