Hi there
I'm looking for John Hocking Spurrell in 1841. He'd be about 5yo
In 1851 he is listed as the grandson of John Spurrell:
John SPURRELL Head W 71 b Sheepstor Shoe Maker John SPURRELL Son W 35 b Walkhampton Granite Labourer John Hocking SPURRELL GSon 15 b Tavistock Shoe Maker ] Agnes SPURRELL GDau 12 b Sampford Shoe Maker Patience SPURRELL GDau 9 b Sampford-DEV Alice ANDREWS Sis W 68 b Sheepstor Housekeeper
HO/107/1883 Folio 176 Page 2 Village, Walkhampton
Now I had assumed that he was the son of John as above, but I can't find a christening record for him.
There is, however, a christening for a John HOCKEN Spurrell in 1835, son of Samuel Spurrell & Esther Moon, who married in East Stonehouse in 1832. BUT I can't find any trace of John Snr having a son called Samuel
So now I'm totally confused, but if anyone can find John Hocking Spurrell in 1841, all may be revealed.
Thanks, Jane

Thanks Jo New & Madpants
I think Richard is the youngest son of John & Patience (my 4g grandparents).
So it now looks like maybe John, son of Samuel & Esther, was visiting his grandparents in 1851, and doesn't actually belong to John, father of Agnes & Patience. As Samuel was also a Shoemaker it seems likely that he is also a son of the elder John.
