Thank you for your speedy reply, I think the “boots” maybe to do with being a hotel porter, (as he was in the 1901 census) they cleaned the boots, Did you notice if it stated if he was married? I was hoping that he would have been with his wife! as in the 1901 census he was married, but living with his sister, I found this in Free BMD: Marriages Dec 1885 Honor Ada Headington 3a 1181 Robbins Sarah Ann Headington 3a 1181 Sammons William Thomas Headington 3a 1181 Stanton John Headington 3a 1181 Thank you again, AnnE

Thank you Sue very kind of you , May be they lived with one of her family & William was on duty the night of the census! In 1891, And by 1901, !! perhaps she had left him! I think he died in 1904. Thank's again , AnnE

Thank you Sue, Hmm, it gets more intriguing, perhaps he was a rotten husband & she left him! (Divorce wasn’t easy back then), I have a photo of William I wish it could talk, I suppose I will never know. thank you again. AnnE
