I am seeking any information about Esther Day who was born about 1802 at Padstow, Cornwall.
I believe that she married a William Cuming (place/date) unknown and moved to Devon. They had 4 children as follows:
Harry d.o.b. unknown William Henry Cuming born 1832 at Plymouth Esther W. Cuming born circa 1835 at Plymouth Hannah Cuming born 1841 at Plymouth
If anyone knows anything about Esther Day, especially her parents/birth details I would be grateful for any assistance.

Hi Deb
Thank you for this - looks like you are onto the right family here. The address is a bit strange - presumably it is a pub?
I will be very interested to see what else can be found.

Hi Deb
Thank you for looking up these census records for me.
I have just discovered from another Rootschatter that Esther Day was in fact Esther Day Wilson and that her parents were a George Wilson and a Patty
According to the IGI Esther Day Wilson was christened 9 Feb 1805 at Padstow. I guess the next task is to try to establish who this George Wilson & Patty are. I could not find a marriage for them in the IGI. I wonder whether they might still have been around the Padstow area at the time of the 1841 census?

Hi,
That baptism you have is as it appears.
George WILSON of this Town = Martha DAY same spinster by Licence 20 Feb 1798 Padstow both signed witnesses Charles H ? and Eliz ? (Sorry but not Wilson or Day)
Cheers Kris
NOTE: Rechecking just see you say Patty. I thought it said Polly - will clarify directly

OK, rechecked and I am going to stick with my Polly. I admit the o could be an a but I think they are definitely ll not tt. very clearly no strokes, and the vicar did seem to generally cross his ts. I did not cross my mind that it was anything but Polly when I checked, but only when I saw IGI had Patty. My recheck again I saw Polly not Patty. Also Polly is a know nickname for Martha

The marriage of Esther and William Cumming did not occur in Padstow, nor can I find it listed elsewhere in Cornwall. Devon seems Likely.
Martha (Polly) will not appear on the census - I can see no burial nor remarriage listed for George Wison in Padstow pre 1841 nor does he appear on the 1841 census for Padstow.
Martha WILSON was buried Padstow on the 18 Mar 1823 aged 49 of Padstow
Hope it helped........Kris
