Hello!
I'm new here, although I have been researching my tree for a couple of years now!
I'm hitting brickwalls at the moment with regard to my 3xgreat grandfather, William Estwick. I know that he was born c. 1813 in Hitchin, parents Thomas & Keziah Estwick (nee Bentley).
He fathered my 2xgreat grandfather whilst married to someone else, and subsequently married my 3xgreat grandmother (Louisa Phippen) in 1856 after his first wife, Ann (nee Salt) died.
After that he disappears off the face of the earth!
I know that in 1861 Louisa is living with her sister's family, with her son. Louisa died in 1862 and her son (William) is raised by Louisa's sister and her husband (William & Elizabeth Archer) - William is shown on the 1871 census living with them.
I haven't been able to find William Estwick on the 1861 census, nor find his death (I have sent off for 2 likely death certificates, both of which have been wrong).
Incidentally, although he was born in Hitchin, most of this happens in East London (Poplar, Hackney, etc). but as he originates in Herts I thought I'd start here!).
I'm stumped now - any suggestions?!

Hi,
I haven't had that certificate, but I have managed to establish (as far as I can) that this isn't 'my' William Estwick.
I also posted this in the London forum, and there have been some very helpful replies there (found him in the Times, so he DOES exist!!)
