Marriage help please
« on: Monday 11 June 07 21:59 BST (UK) »

Could someone help me locate the marriage of Pryce Weaver to Elizabeth (possibly Jones)

according to 1871 census she is from  Trefyglwys, Montgomeryshire - 1861 says Trefeylys, Montgomeryshire  no idea what spelling is correct
Pryce/Price was from Montgomery and was baptised in St Nicholas Parish Church Montgomery but the wedding didn't take place there.

They are already married on 1841

they were both born abt 1814

I've found Price and his family in the 1851 in Montgomery, and a John Jones is listed as Brother-in-Law.  So, you can safely assume that Elizabeth was a Jones! Although, you should obtain one of the children's birth certificates to confirm Mum's maiden name.

I see in the 1841 that they have a 4 year old son Price, so if he's the firstborn child, then their marriage may fall within the start of Civil Registration in July 1837.   If not, then I'm afraid it's parish registers, which are held on microfilm at The National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth.

By the way, the correct spelling is Trefeglwys! Cheesy and if Elizabeth was born there then it's likely that is where the marriage took place (if indeed they actually did get married!!).

I forgot to mention in my post yesterday, that there is a new website devoted to Trefeglwys: http://www.trefeglwys.org.uk/

You have to register to use the site, but it might be worth you posting a request there in case another member has access to Trefeglwys parish records.

One of my Owen lines originate from Trefeglwys so I've posted a couple of queries!
