Any help with the above couple would be much appreciated. I know George born in Luton on the 28 June 1861 son of George Everitt and Sarah Hickson. He married Caroline Waller 1 April 1878 at St Marys Luton, Caroline's father on marriage certificate listed as William Waller. Already tried for birth certificate I thought was Caroline's but wrong father. Anybody with any info?

I presume the name on the birth certificate was James, looking at the censuses for Caroline Wallers born St Albans c1859?? She does have a brother called William, so could have been entered incorrectly (on my grandads marriage cert, it named his brother as his father!) Or he could have been James William/William James? Can't find any other Caroline Wallers born the right time and place
What was his occupation on marriage cert? names of witnesses that might give clues?

Looks like James died 1874, so wouldn't have been around for the wedding in 1878 (if the name entered on marriage cert was an error)

Hi, yes it was James on the certificate, occupation of William was a Dyer, the witnesses were a Samuel Game and Mary Ann Jennings, they married the same day so would assume they witnessed each other's marriage. Steve

Hello Steve,
On 1871 as well as the Caroline (transcribed Carlion !) Waller b 1859 St Albans, daughter of James & Hannah, living in St Peters, St Albans..
RG10/1378 Folio: 36 Page: 9
.... there is Carey Waller, age 12 born St Albans, daughter of widowed mother Sarah Waller age 35 born Harpendon, along with brother Alfred age 7 born Luton, living in Luton Beds.
RG10/1571 Folio: 79 Page: 16.
I noticed that Caroline Everitt on the 1891 census is known as Carry, & they have an 8 year old daughter Carry. So I suspect your Caroline to be the 2nd one I found.
Mother Sarah Waller went on to marry William Fenn (Luton RD 3b/691 Apr-June 1877) as per FreeBMD; & they appear on 1881 census William age 40, Sarah age 50 with son Alfred Waller age 19, living in Luton.
RG11/1651 Folio: 81 Page: 25
But I cannot find Sarah & a 2 year old Caroline on 1861 census which might give us her father's name
Regards John

Hi John, thanks for the info, I had looked at that Carey and wondered, I also had found Sarah marrying William Fenn in 1877 and that he was a bleacher and dyer. Also I found a Sarah Henson marrying a William Waller in 1848 (Biggleswade) but I can not find them on the 1851 or 1861 censuses yet. Neither can I find a birth ref for Carey or Alfred to get their birth certificates. So at the moment it's all supposition.
Steve
