Chism & Kemmins : Drogheda
« on: Tuesday 12 June 07 08:18 UTC (UK) »

Hello

I am trying to find out more about my GG Grandparents Edward CHISM and Jane KEMMINS or KIMMINS.  They married in 1860 at the Wesleyan Methodist Chapel in Drogheda.  Jane was baptised in 1840 at the Methodist Chapel (Her parents were James and Jane KIMMINS)  Edward's father was also called Edward.   Both were of full age when they married.  I know that Edward died in 1895, and I cannot find Jane on the 1911 census , so assume she had probably died by then.

I am trying to find out Edwards date and place of birth and any other info. that will be of use furthering my research.  I don't know of any siblings for Edward, however, Jane did have a sister called Eliza.

Thanks
Wink

Not sure if you have thesse births already but IGI lists 3 children for Edward Chism and Jane:
1. Anne Elizabeth born 20 June 1865 Sligo, Co.Sligo (mother- Kemmins)
2. Sarah Almira born 3 Apr.1871 Co. Sligo (mother- Kemmons)
3. Rhoda born 6 Feb.1877 Co.Sligo (mother- Kummins)

Marriage certificate should given names of both fathers nd their occupations but the residences shown are where the bride and groom were living at the time of the marriage and may not be where they were born or where their family was living. As it was a Methodist cerremony there may also be a Registry Office marriage which would have been considered the 'official' marriage. However, if they put a notice in the newspaper it will probably list the place of marriage as the Methodist chapel.

Christopher

Thanks for the link.  It's nice to actually see the chapel, even if it is now a House Furnishers!!!   Smiley

Aghadowey

Thanks for those.  No, I didn't have 2 of them, so that was really helpful.  (I think the first one should have been 1865   Huh

I have the fathers for both Edward and Jane from their marriage certificate, and also Jane's mother from her baptism certificate.  But can't get back any further  Angry

Thank you both for your help
Happy 2008   Cheesy
