My Grandma Ella Williams 1916
|
Hello
Looking for Michael Bailey, Grocer and son Michael Bailey, Draper in 1841 & 1851 and later. No other info as yet.
When Michael jnr married Emma Penn in 1855 (in Madeley, Salop) his residence was Longton. He was born in Dawley c1828. Having just obtained their marriage certificate I've discovered I had assigned the wrong parents so have to start again

Im having trouble finding them on 1861 census (not got 1851)
But here they are on 1871.

Charles 28 son ironworks fitter ~
Maria 25 dau milliner ~

Michaels occupation in full Colliery-clerk out of emply..
Will carry on looking on 1861 and get back to you.

The name might look like Barley on the census, taking into account the enumerator also wrote both Maria's down as daughter!

Thanks Everyone - I think yonder peasant has cracked it  and Michael the Grocer is the one I want.
I had previously pursued William & Ann Bailey, but discovered I was wrong with Michael jnr's marriage certificate. I see also that the witnesses to his daughter Emma's marriage in 1890 were Robert Bailey and Lydia Bailey (Michael was deceased by then) so the second family is looking good 
Hmm, seem to have been a fairly prolific lot - tracking down all those siblings will keep me busy for quite a while
