I am looking for the births of children to John LAVIS and his wife Johanna (no maiden surname known). According to the 1841 census of Bere Ferris, only John (60) Ag Lab, Joanna (60) John (20) Jane (20) are shown but I think that there were several children born before Jane.
According to a marriage certificate the son John was born about 1821.
By 1851 at Bere Ferris John Snr and John Jnr are living with Jane Lilycrap/Lylycrap, presumably the daughter c1818 and her husband. John Jnr came to Australia in 1857. His mother died 1842 and his father in 1856.
Would it be possible to get a lookup done of John and Johanna's children please?
There is a possibility that a Thomas might be amongst them as one of his children also came to Australia.
Kind regards, AusBon

Hi I have the following baptism dates Nancy 12/6/1814 Jane Lavis 28/7/1817 John Lavis 11/2/1821
Also John Lavis & Johanna Gerry marrying 24/7/1808.
I have checked the parishes around, but no other children are mentioned. However, my records only go back to 1754 with the marriage index, baptisms start at 1813.
Sorry I can't be more help
Regards Suzanne

Hi there Suzanne,
Thank you so much for this, I really appreciate it and the maiden name of Johanna was an extra thrill. It is all starting to come together.
Have you any idea where I might find the baptisms between 1808 and 1813?
Kind regards, Bonnie

Hi again Suzanne,
How far up do you have the marriages? Reason I ask is that I THINK that Jane LAVIS married a Lylycrapp between 1841 and 1851 census but I can't find it on the FreeCen site.
Maybe I am jumping to conclusions that this Jane Lylycrapp in the 1851 census where my John LAVIS is living, along with his widowed father, is actually his sister Jane LAVIS, as she is the correct age and born in Bere Ferris.
By the way, the Nancy Lavis you found me, came out to Australia and I have been able to find heaps of info on their side for my elderly friend....a BIG thank you for that.

HI Again The only marriages I have in my records are Thomas Lavis marrying Elizabeth Fudge 30/5/1835 & Richard Lavis Marrying Mary Dout 25/10/1818.
As for other records, well unless you can find a kind soul who visits record offices, then it means a trip yourself which in your case would be impossible. I think you can request info from the record centres for a fee, but I've never done it myself.
Regards Suzanne

Hi there John,
I did a lot of research on this family and sent it all down to the elderly lady in NSW. Don't think I kept a copy of it all but will check and let you know if I have it. If you don't hear in a day or two, you will know I haven't retained a copy.
